Ignite Change
You can help Wisconsin college campuses adopt healthy, tobacco-free policies.
What We Believe
A Healthy Campus Matters
A lot goes into making a successful college student and a healthy college campus. Everywhere you go there are new things to try, new friends to make, and always new opportunities to grow and have fun. Campus policies have a lot to do with all of that, including tobacco-free campus policies.
Smoke-Free Is Not Enough
Exposure to secondhand smoke and aerosol remains a serious health concern. Tobacco companies continue to market their products at concerts, bars, parties and wherever college students hang out. Unfortunately, the targeted marketing of newer products like vapes and e-cigarettes are leaving a large number of 18-24 year-olds addicted. Wisconsin universities and colleges should be places where students can count on a safe and healthy environment.
We Can Make a Difference
Healthier students, faculty and staff, a supportive tobacco-free environment and a simple policy to stick to. That’s what goes into making our colleges the best they can be. We can ignite change for the better on our campus and all over Wisconsin.
Commercial vs. Traditional Tobacco
Commercial tobacco – such as cigarettes, e-cigarettes/vapes, or chew – is different than traditional tobacco. Commercial tobacco is mass produced and sold for profit for recreational use. Traditional tobacco refers to the plant used by American Indians and Alaska Natives for ceremonial or medicinal purposes. SPARK recognizes and honors the significance of traditional tobacco in American Indian life.
